Why Sherwood Park?

Why do we choose to work primarily in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County?

Because we live here. Our family lives here. And, simply, we love it.

Sherwood Park is located just 3km on the southeast side of Edmonton.

Although it’s a fairly large municipality, Sherwood Park is pretty proud to be the World’s Largest Hamlet, according to the Guiness World Book of Records (#quirkyfact).

5 Fave Things about Sherwood Park

#1: Community

Sherwood Park is close to a large city, but with a little slower pace to enjoy life. It sounds odd, but there are truly no “bad” or unsafe neighbourhoods, which you might find in other larger cities.

Excellent schools and affordable (or free!) recreation programs make Sherwood Park a great choice for families.

Sherwood Park residents have a strong sense of community and you’ll find familiar faces at block parties, local retailers and cafés, and at the hockey rink or dance studios.

Trina’s Pick: Oxygen Yoga and Fitness is one of my favourite locally-owned businesses. I love the atmosphere. I love bumping into my friends and clients when I workout there. It’s like our hangout.

#2: Local Shops & Amenities

Sherwood Park has a small but mighty local business scene, with something for everyone, including cafés, boutiques and larger retailers too.

Many Edmontonians and surrounding neighbours come to Sherwood Park for our boutiques, to catch a show at Festival Place or splash around Millennium Place Recreation Centre.

Megan’s Pick: I love going for Mexican food at La Patrona. They’re really accommodating to us celiacs! I can go to a local restaurant, eat delicious food and feel really looked after.

#3: Jobs & Economy

Strathcona County is a leader in industrial development within Alberta’s Industrial Heartland – and provides excellent employment options in petroleum and trades.

The proximity to Edmonton, the second largest city in Alberta, means there is a lot of opportunity for public sector and white collar jobs, too.

Nichole’s Pick: I love walking around Greenland Garden Centre anytime of year, but Christmas is one of my favourites. It’s a family tradition to go see the decorations and have lunch at Branches… gotta get the bacon maple dip!

#4: Green Space & Dog Parks

Sherwood Park and Strathcona County have lots of fun playgrounds, ample green space, waterways and handy dog parks.

People from all over the Capital Region enjoy hiking and cross-country skiing at Strathcona Wilderness Centre. It’s also just a 15-minute drive to the spectacular Cooking Lake Moraine region and Elk Island National Park.

Megan’s Pick: I love running along the JR Trail system near my house because it is so close but makes you feel like you are so far from town. We take our dogs for walks on this trail all year round.

#5: Real Estate Value

As a real estate investment, Sherwood Park is a winner. It tends to weather the highs and lows in the market a little quicker.

People who live here generally choose to stay here long-term, which means there’s a rich market for real estate. Properties sustain their value more than many of the surrounding communities.

Whether you’re looking for a condo, single family home or a spacious acreage, Sherwood Park and Strathcona County will deliver.

Trina’s Pick: It was always my dream as a little girl to own an acreage. And now I live on a gorgeous property that we share with my parents right here in Strathcona County. My acreage is my oasis.
